In order to alleviate the daily problem with the traffic congestions along EDSA, the METRO RAIL TRANSIT CORPORATION had engaged the services of the Contractor MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (MHI) and SUMITOMO CORPORATION to design and build the Metrostar Express Light Rail Transit traversing the stretch of the Epifanio delos Santos Ave. The alignment basically follows that of EDSA crossing major complicated intersections. In the execution of the contractor, MHI and Sumitomo engaged the engineering expertise for Consultancy Services of KE ASIA, under sub-contract with KEI, in the DETAILED ENGINEERING DESIGN of major intersections involving the following:

Substructure support of Guadalupe Bridge (185 Span Truss Bridge)
North Depot Access Viaduct
Magallanes Interchange Viaduct
Cubao Intersection Viaduct,and
Depress portion between Buendia and Ayala

The project is a 16-kilometer long Light Rail Transit on reinforced/pre-stressed concrete girder viaduct which will provide mass transportation along EDSA Highway between Quezon City and PasayCity.
